Sri Rama Navami

Sri Rama Navami is a Hindu Festival ,celebrating the birth of Lord Rama. Rama is the 7th incarnation of the Dashavatara of Vishnu. The festival falls in the ninth day of the month of Chaitra in the Hindu calender. So ninth day after Ugadi is celebrated as Rama navami.
The day is also celebrated as the wedding anniversary of Sri Rama and his consort sita. Sitarama Kalyanam


the ceremonial wedding ceremony of the celestial couple is held at temples throughout the south region.


The things which  we usually do on this day are:
The Kalyanam is performed in all the temples in the morning.
Panakam ,a sweet drink and vadapappu are prepared on this day as Neivedyam for Lord Rama.


How to do Panakam?

Ingredients
water - 1glass
jaggery(grated) - 2 tbsp 
crushed cardomom
crushed peppercorns
Procedure
Mix the grated jaggery to the water.let it dissolve completely.Then add the crushed cardomom and peppercorns.Mix well.

Vadapappu??
Soak the moong dal(pesara pappu) in water for minimum of 1/2 hr and strain it..
